52 Weeks, A 2022 Weekly Photo Project

Hi everyone! Happy New Year!

So sorry I've been silent on the blog here for a while. I am working on a variety of posts for the next few months, a mix of gear reviews, and a series on creative techniques.

I wanted to share a little project I decided to launch for 2022, 52WEEKS. This is not a new concept, of course. But it is my first time running through this, for the photo group I run, Seattle Photowalks.

How does it work?

The idea is to create an image a week, every week of the year. My twist is to supply a theme each week to provide a little inspiration.

I kicked off the project a couple of weeks ago. Each Sunday I'm sharing out that week's theme, with a unique hashtag for that theme. I'm also using the #52Weeks hashtag to help get some exposure for the overall project since people around the world do this every year. A third new, hashtag is #52WeeksPNW to encourage individuals in the PNW to participate.

Each week I'll highlight images on the IG Feed I run, @SeattlePhotowalks

Week 1 - Motion Blur

With motion we can abstract or blur to add movement to an image, highlighting the use of slower shutter speeds or movement while the shutter is open.

Check out hashtag #52WeeksMotion on Instagram for that week's images.

Week 2 - Reflection(s)

This week's theme is Reflection / Reflections.

Using windows, mirrors, or water can provide unique perspectives on a scene, or moment. Check out #52WeeksReflection on Instagram to see what people are sharing so far.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE!

There are two ways to participate in this weekly challenge:

Facebook - PNW Photographers

You can share images in the group or in the comments on the post each week, just be sure to use that week's hashtag if you upload as a post within the group and share in your comments that it is for that challenge.

If you’re not already a part of that group, please join as I also post events like photowalks, and do polls and things to get feedback for ideas for outings.

Instagram - @SeattlePhotowalks

Post your images on your feed and include the hashtag for that week, plus #52WeeksPNW and #52weeks.

Looking forward to seeing what you make!
