Travelogue: Leith, Edinburgh, Scotland

Date: 26 October, 2024

Just two days into a two month trip to the UK and Ireland I took a wander through a waterfront neighbourhood of Edinburgh: Leith. This is a part of Edinburgh I really enjoy. It’s a small, quiet area, with a variety of restaurants, and pathways to view the “Water of Leith Walkway” and nearby lock which leads to the North Sea.

Typically on extended trips like this I am fairly budget conscious on my meals, but occasionally, of course, want to treat myself.

I came across a spot called Toast, which looked like a great option for one of those treat days. I got up relatively early so that I could get there when they opened, it was a Saturday and I anticipated this to be a busy spot. I’m glad I did, by 9:30 the place was jamming!

I enjoyed an eggs benedict on toast and a mocha. It was all really delicious.

From there I took an hour or two to just wander around the area. Having been to Leith a couple of times over the years, it’s always nice to find new nooks to explore or see how it may have changed. As well I have generally only been to the UK in Spring and this time, I was there in Fall so that also changes the landscape.

On this day I was pleased to have blue skies and sun, it was chilly, but not too cold. Kind of a perfect fall day, really.
