Seattle’s Overlook Walk
Sometimes you have a free day, and sometimes the weather is sunny on a spring day in Seattle. When those two elements collide you get out of the house and explore. Or at least that’s what I try to do.
Today, I was up somewhat early, saw the sun peeking through the window shades, and decided it was time to finally head to downtown Seattle and check out the recently opened Overlook Park.
This is a connection point from Pike Place Market to the Seattle Aquarium, Pier 62, and the waterfront.
When I first moved to Seattle, there was a viaduct you could take through this exact area, which provided great views of the mountains and Elliott Bay. However, that was taken down in 2019, and gradually, the views along the waterfront have changed.
Part of me misses that drive because it was so pretty, but now we have a new way to view the space.
When I got to the market, I made my way down the cobblestone street towards the sundeck. Then down towards the Overlook.
Part of the sky was blue with strips of clouds, but the majority of it was fogged in. Which was a pleasant, moody surprise.
I took a ton of photos, over 100! Which if you know me, is a lot. Part of that is because it’s new, I tend to do that when I visit a new place.
I also have a photowalk planned there in the summer, so today was a great opportunity to wander around and get to know this new bit of the city better.
I’d recommend that you check out this new spot in Seattle. I might avoid it on the weekends, though, especially as we get into spring, unless crowds are your jam!
