Hipstamatic - Foodie SnapPak

I've been using Hipstamatic for a long time, going back to 2009, when I got my first iPhone. If you follow my feed on Instagram or Flickr you've seen me use it, a lot. Not everyone is a fan of the square format that is Instagram, but as a long time film shooter who loves the medium format cameras like Hasslelblads, I dig it.iPhone3gs | HipstamaticI'm not going to focus on the overall app that is Hipstamatic in this post, but I will mention a few key things:

  • Hipstamatic shoots in the square format by default, and at present that's the only output.
  • Hipstamatic is $1.99 to start and offers add-ons in app, some free some a buck.
  • Hipstamatic offers a variety of Lenses, Film and Flashes, these are your filters, like in editing apps (in a way).

  • What I wanted to focus on is the Foodie Pak. The foodie Pak came out some time ago and it has remained one of my favourite filter combinations, and not just for food shots. I love it for portraits and self portraits as well! ;-)Check out these examples and I think you will see why.For the Portrait PhotographersIMG_0236IMG_0533For the Foodies + Food Photographers2014_365_1562014_365_1602014_365_163IMG_0596If you are playing with this app, I'd recommend getting this HipstaPak to add to it. It's bright, contrasty and I dig the bit of blur on the edges.
