Cannon Beach Oregon

It's 3:00 PM on a Friday afternoon and I'm heading south on the I-5. Leaving the city of Seattle in my rear view, with the wonders of the Oregon coast ahead.Long overdue I planned a tiny getaway with a good friend, an opportunity to get out of dodge and explore the coast a bit. Since moving to Seattle, I've actually done a few trips along highway 101, which loops you along the coast, at least most of the time. It's rocky, dramatic and simply stated: Beautiful.Around 9pm, we were crossing the Astoria-Megler Bridge, which is 4.1 miles long, we saw a beautiful sunset unfold. So we paused, at a marina there, to enjoy the sites and of course take some pictures.Astoria-Megler BridgeWe continued on to Seaside, a town about 7 miles from Cannon Beach, to stay the night. Saturday morning came pretty quickly, as I set my alarm for 4 am, with a goal to capture sunrise on the beach. We set out to Cannon Beach by 4:45 am and found the right spot to park and start exploring by 5:15. Surprisingly we were not along. There were several people there, enjoying the sunrise and even digging for clams. These are a few of my favourite images, these were all taken with a Fuji X100s. I have some iPhone photos as well I shot about 2 rolls of film through my Zero Image Pinhole Camera. Those still need to go to the lab, so look for a follow up post with those soon (if they turn out!). These images were all edited with either Lightroom4 or Lightroom4 + Nik Silver Efex 2.0.Sea Stacks at Low TideLow TideSea Stacks at DawnSea Stack in the Distance Stacks in the distance.Sun peaks + Clam Digger
