On the Road - Part 5 - Joshua Tree & the Mojave

I arrived in Twentynine Palms, Ca., on the 29th, haha. I checked into my hotel/motel, took a break from the road to cool off and headed to Joshua Tree National park to catch the sunset. I realised I probably left too late to truly explore the park and find a nice spot to catch the sunset, however, I got some cool photos...Going in from the north entrance, I followed the looping trail seeking spots to pull off and explore the terrain.I got up rather early Sunday morning with the goal of heading back to Joshua Tree before I drove north to Vegas. I decided to check out the west entrance, since I'd already seenparts from the north. I also thought it would be fun to do a self portrait, I figure I've made at least one of my friends proud!This one may well be my fave from the park:Once I left Joshua tree, I knew there were a few ways to get to Vegas, I opted for the route through the Mojave Desert, I mean how many chances does one get to drive through a desert?crunchy, white sand:the long and winding road:rocks, sand and yucca:To see all of the images from the trip, check the continually growing set on Flickr Road Trip 2011.
